"I enjoyed how she integrated the group dancing together. And how she used the best music throughout her class." Keiko Shivers
"I enjoyed the dynamic of your presentation. Thought it was really cool that we had to be in a certain setting and become that setting or an object that would be in that setting. I also enjoyed being the interpreter and trying to figure out what they were doing. Thank you for making my brain work a little extra today." Saskia St. Lot
"Kyla’s class was very interesting. I enjoyed doing something different than the other classes we have had. Sometimes it is nice to feel like you are 7 years old all over again and play with your classmates. Her attitude was great and you could tell she was well prepared." Sara Valbuena
"Today’s class was very fun. I hadn’t thought of doing a team work/group exercise and I’m glad I got the opportunity to participate in some today. The class was led and instructed very well. Her voice was calm and comforting and the whole class grew together- especially during the last expressive exercise we did. I’m inspired to add more group activities to my own lesson plan and am excited to see what is next." Reece Haire
"Today’s class was very well organized and the activities were well planned out. The purposes behind the activities were clearly defined, and fun to participate in. Kyla was a natural teacher to follow due to her enthusiastic presence and patient manner. I also enjoyed how the activities brought me closer to my classmates on a harmonious level." Camila Chediak
"She has great energy. Loved the activity. Overall: really fun class." Jenny Davis
"I thoroughly enjoyed Kyla’s class today. The topic can apply to all students, regardless of dance ability. I was the most impressed by her teaching abilities. I know that this class was meant for middle schoolers, but she has a great presence about herself that could easily work for younger children. She knows how to control the students and knows how to really make them think and use their brain while in class, which is important. The exercises made us think, which I also liked. I wish I could take more classes with her!" Patricia Victor
"I really enjoyed the class! The warmup, exercises, and activity all built on each other and achieved the goal of learning what group mind is. Her voice was always firm and authoritative but still warm and kind. She did a great job! I don’t have any critiques for her." Ellen Mitchell
Kyla's class was really fun! It was great to have her teach one of the first lessons... i think we all learned from her teaching and were able to incorporate some of what we learned into our own lessons. Her class made me realize how vital group activities can be to a lesson plan.
ReplyDeleteI really understood "group mind" after this class! The Tableau game was so much fun, but it was a struggle to hold a single position and not "act out" the scene! But it was so much fun for both children and adults! This could be a great exercise in a class that has a variety of ages.
ReplyDeleteBeing an observer, I realized how truly engaged everybody was. The actual observational aspect of instruction was very evident and it demonstrated how simple activities can create a space for contemplation.
